The BEST Business Center provides free tools and advice to help businesses in Portland, Oregon become more profitable and sustainable. It is a partnership of city and regional government programs and energy utilities, including the City of Portland Bureau of Planning and Sustainability, City of Portland Water Bureau, Metro, Pacific Power, Portland Development Commission and Portland General Electric.

Why was the BEST Business Center established?

In the summer and fall of 2006, the Portland Office of Sustainable Development commissioned research with dozens of local small businesses. The research revealed that businesses will embrace resource efficiency and sustainability if services are delivered efficiently.

What are the goals?

The BEST Business Center streamlines access to financial incentives and technical assistance for greening business operations. These services are tailored to help each business conserve resources, improve efficiency, save money and provide a healthy and quality workspace for employees.

Doing nothing is not an option. The longer we do nothing, the more it will cost our region and the nation, both environmentally and economically. Protecting the environment is essential for our economy and our future
