Elle, our sustainability analyst, is the voice behind our social media presence on Twitter and Facebook. When not tweeting, she also assists businesses, manages our website and provides data analysis and information management for the program.
For over 15 years, Elle has worked to incorporate sustainable practices in the private, non-profit and academic sectors. As a native Portlander, she's excited to now serve her hometown.
Elle, a Master Recycler and Lewis & Clark College alumna, is fluent in sarcasm and enjoys running, Oregon summers, problem-solving and practical jokes.
Genevieve enjoys working with employees and businesses to create recycling and composting systems that are user friendly and easy to understand. With a special focus on recycling and composting at public places and events, Genevieve is eager to guide businesses in making mindful purchasing, consumption and reuse or disposal practices.
She looks forward to the future when kids grow up knowing more reuses for waste than disposal options.
Jaimes has over eight years of experience in sustainability consulting, especially in helping non-profits, governments and businesses make the shift to clean, renewable energy sources. He has degrees in Physics and Environmental Studies and particularly enjoys the quantitative details of energy efficiency and resource use. He helps connect small businesses in Portland with the tools and resources that they need to incorporate sustainability into their operations. He also serves as our renewable energy specialist and keeps up-to-date on the federal, state and regional incentives for solar energy systems.
A frequent bike commuter, he is an avid tinkerer of all things mechanical. Jaimes can often be found restoring vintage objects for newfound uses.
Kim assists businesses with finding resources and technical assistance that enable them to become more sustainable. She has been with the bureau for the past seven years, including as a planner with the bureau's District Liaison program assisting with neighborhood planning projects in North and Outer East Portland. She has a degree in Community Development, a passion for Portland, and brings over 20 years of experience working with private, nonprofit and governmental organizations to her discussions with businesses throughout the city.
As one of the predominate faces behind the program's main phone and email, Lindsey will likely help you at some point in your work with us. As a Master Recycler, Lindsey is happy to answer all of your recycling questions or to connect you with other staff and partners to get all of your sustainability questions answered whether it's how to recycle odd plastics or how to turn your roof into a garden.
A native Oregonian and Reed College grad, Lindsey is excited by innovation in sustainability, especially from the Portland community. She loves helping Portland businesses show how a triple bottom line - people, planet, and profit – is a business model to be emulated.
With over a decade of experience in resource efficiency, Paul has helped hundreds of businesses reduce their environmental impacts. His current focus is on assisting commercial property managers in providing their tenants with education and inspiration to improve their sustainability programs. Paul is also involved with the regional Healthcare Roundtable, which helps bring healthcare facilities together to work on the unique challenges in that field.
Paul's two young children keep him busy, but he does occasionally get a chance to tend his garden, learn bicycle maintenance, and go out to dinner with his wife, Chloe, to one of Portland's extraordinary restaurants.
Pete has thirteen years of experience in material and waste management; including education, outreach, and program and policy development. He worked for the University of Oregon Campus Recycling Program and Lane County Waste Management before joining our team.
As a Sustainability Advisor, Pete helps large organizations such as government, colleges and universities in developing goals and metrics, engaging staff, matching up organizational needs with available resources…all resulting in positive institutional changes.
As a bicycle and compost advocate and amateur beer brewer and reuse artist, Pete promotes a fun and sustainable lifestyle at work, home and everywhere in-between.
Yvonne enjoys being out in the community, engaging with businesses and community members to raise environmental awareness and to learn more about the great work happening in our city. She provides technical assistance to businesses in the areas of resource efficiency and sustainable operations.
When Yvonne is not at work, you'll find her either in her garden or playing with her lovable pit bull, Princess.
Megan is our Program Manager. She has been with the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability for six years and has over eight years of experience working on sustainability-related programs. She holds degrees in Journalism and Environmental Studies. Megan's primary focus is on building partnerships and on marketing and outreach to Portland's business community.
Megan is learning all about green building and creative reuse firsthand as she remodels her 1936 home.
Since joining us in 2004, Pam has specialized in designing voluntary behavior change strategies that really work in the workplace. She currently manages the design and evaluation components our program and is also the City of Portland's Operational Sustainability Coordinator. Pam holds a masters degree in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Oregon. Her professional background includes brand management and public participation consulting as well as local government sustainability program design and implementation.
When she's not working, Pam stays active: sailing with her family, organic gardening and playing the piano. The year 2011 marks her 19th consecutive year of bike/walk/bus commuting.
Sara is our Strategy and Operations Manager. She has fourteen years of experience launching and leading programs, and has an extensive resource conservation background. She has an MBA and a Master's in Natural Resources and Environment from the University of Michigan plus a BA in Cultural Anthropology from Amherst College.
Sara loves to spend her spare time hiking, traveling and exploring all things food-related.
