About the BEST Awards
Since 1993, the BEST Awards have been presented annually to Portland area companies demonstrating excellence in business practices that promote social equity, economic growth and environmental benefits.
The mission of the BEST Awards is to inspire the business community by showcasing innovation and commitment to social, environmental and economic sustainability.
The BEST Awards recognize businesses with significant and unique achievements in the following categories:
- BEST Practices for Sustainability: Very Small, Small, Medium and Large companies
- Sustainable Products or Services
- Green Building
- Sustainable Food Systems
Announcement of Winners
BEST Award winners are announced at the annual BEST Awards Breakfast, which takes place in April each year. All applicant businesses will be invited to attend the event, but award winners WILL NOT be notified in advance of their status.

How To Apply
The 2010 BEST Award application period is closed. Applications are available from mid-January to mid-February each year.
The Sustainability Guide focused our attention on areas where we needed to increase our efforts to operate in a more sustainable manner, and those areas where we are on the right track. It kept us on task in regards to timing and provided helpful resources in writing and structuring our own green operations plan.
