The Trail Blazers are proud to play a role in Portland’s drive to be the greenest city in the country. Our efforts are a result of local expertise and innovation helping Portland foster a stronger, more sustainable economy. We don’t view this as a one-time achievement, but rather an important step toward our long-term goals. Fans and the Portland community are an important part of the effort for us to reach our sustainability goals. Oregon is one of the most beautiful, livable places on the planet, and commitment to being good environmental stewards is part of what defines our region. This is a team effort, involving all of us working together.

• Purchase 100% renewable energy for the Rose Garden through Pacific Power and NW Natural
• Decreased water use at the Rose Garden by over 30% since 2008
• Increased amount of waste diverted from the landfill from 38% in 2007 to nearly 80% in 2010
• Bikes available for staff and security, electric vehicle charging stations installed and reserved VIP parking for electric and hybrid vehicles
• 50% of food and beverage is sourced locally
• The only existing professional sports arena in the world to have received LEED Gold certification
• First professional sports team to publically announce it has calculated its carbon footprint
• Helped create the Green Sports Alliance to share best practices, engage fans and helping other sports teams and venues become more sustainable
