For sixteen years TimberPro UV has pioneered the wood coatings industry in developing low VOC, renewable oil based waterborne technology.
As a pioneer in the development of safe coatings, Timber Pro UV has spent years educating the public and promoting industry change.
For decades wood stains and finishes had only been high VOC solvent based, flammable oil stains and sealers. In the 1980's legislation was introduced to enforce the development of coatings with lower levels of Volatile Organic Compounds and fewer hazardous ingredients.
Instead fighting this legislation, as many other companies did, Timber Pro UV immediately began the R & D necessary to produce their low VOC water borne product, which was first introduced in 1992.
Timber Pro UV Natural Wood Finishes are made from nano particle bio-preferred oils suspended in a water reducible solution. These plant oil molecules are “wrapped” with an acrylic shell that boosts their durability. This plant oil based, waterborne technology results in Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) levels much lower that most products.
Timber Pro UV envirosafe wood finishes are manufactured locally and have zero by-product or waste from the manufacturing process. The company chooses to have suppliers' drums and containers put back into industry re-use rather than profit by selling them to scrap metal buyers.
Rather than use the industry standard metal buckets, Timber Pro UV wood finishes and concrete sealers are packed in plastic buckets which are recyclable, and compact In addition to being recyclable, these plastic buckets compact storage these buckets allow for reduces storage space needs, and therefore heating and electricity.
The volatile organic compounds (fumes) are so low in our products that there is nothing contributing to air pollution or ozone depletion. In our manufacturing facility and offices we recycle all our paper and cardboard garbage, use low wattage bulbs and fluorescent lighting, and insulated our ceilings to save on energy use and costs.
Timber Pro UV donates product annually to Habitat for Humanity, Eagle Scouts, and Green Garden Partners, an organization that treats and restores senior citizens’ properties. Products have also been sold “at cost” for schools and other public projects so that TimberPro UV products could be used instead of conventional, toxic product.
